Understanding the NDIS
The NDIS changed everything for disability support in Australia. Here’s what it actually means for you.
Personalised funding for people who need real support
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is an Australian Government initiative that provides individuals with permanent and significant disabilities with personalised, ongoing funding to access the support services they need. Rather than offering a fixed set of generic services, the NDIS puts the money in your hands — giving you real choice and genuine control over what support you receive, from whom, and how.
This shift from a one-size-fits-all model to a participant-controlled funding approach has been genuinely transformative for hundreds of thousands of Australians. For participants, it means the difference between receiving whatever’s available and receiving whatever’s right for them.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Limitless Horizons Health Services is fully registered with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission (Reg No. 4-KY8IFF4). Our registration means you can access our full suite of services with complete confidence — we’ve met every standard required of a registered provider.

The 3 NDIS funding categories
Your NDIS plan divides your funding across three support categories, each designed to cover different areas of your life.
Core Supports
Funds the day-to-day supports that help you live your life - personal care, household tasks, community participation, and transport. Generally the most flexible category with the widest range of eligible services.
Capacity Building
Invests in your future independence. This funding builds your abilities over time - supporting employment, life skills, community participation, and your ability to manage your own NDIS plan more effectively.
Capital Supports
Covers the bigger-ticket items that create long-term independence - assistive technology, home modifications, and in some cases, Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA). Tightly defined but highly impactful.
